Can the Midwest Feed Itself by 2050?

A Sustainable Food Future

By 2050, the Midwest will nourish its communities with at least half of its food grown, raised, or processed regionally.

Food Vision 2050 is a pioneering initiative focused on establishing comprehensive food security plans by 2050 across 20 cities.

We aim to enhance agricultural practices and promote local sourcing, fostering a culture of health and sustainability with four primary goals:

  • Triple the land used for local production and specialty crops

  • Support sustainable farming, small acreage agriculture, and artisanal food processing

  • Increase food access and vibrant food economies

  • Promote innovations that inspire sector growth
